Did Adam Eat of

The Tree of Life?

“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but

the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.”

Romans 8:6

God Sets Before You Life and Death, What Do You

Choose?

There is a wisdom that leads to bondage and death. There is a wisdom that leads to life. Two kinds of trees; one bringing death, one bringing life. Two kinds of wisdom; one leading to death, one leading to life.  The wisdom of man that seems right according to the experiential knowedge of good and evil, but leading to death; and the wisdom of God, leading to life. Wisdom Versus Knowledge There's a lot of material labelled as 'Wisdom' by which to enhance your life. People devour self-help books, blogs, social media, etc. to fix and enhance their lives, or to find new ways to lead more effective lives. As pressures in life press down on us, our minds and souls scream out for new ways to keep up and remain relevant, being able to leave some kind of positive mark on society, or at least, our families. But do the teachings of today really constitute wisdom that leads to life? How can we know? How can we discern if what we are being taught leads to life - greater peace, joy, freedom, greater intimacy with God - or just another fad that has been thought out by someone with a neon-name and taught as wisdom by the masses who worship the neon-name, and based on the experiential knowledge of good and evil, ultimately leading to death? Technology promises to enhance our lives and bring greater freedom and free time, but does it deliver? The addictiveness of technology is well- documented - as if we need documentation; we merely need to grab a coffee, prize the phone from our hand for thirty seconds, and watch the people around us. Is the generally-taught-wisdom any different? If not, why are so many people cracking-up, burning-out, or zoning-out? Why is depression and hopelessness so pervasive? Do you not also feel the crack of the whip on your back, urging you relentlessly on towards...?  The wisdom of the world is the wisdom that comes from the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. It is a wisdom which leads to bondage and death. Jewish Rabbis quote one of their sages who said that “the name eitz hada’at, usually translated as Tree of Knowledge, would actually be more accurately translated as Tree of Desire..." Rabbi Baruch S. Davidson. What a cruel master desire can be! Jesus said He came to give us life and in Him we will find rest for our souls. How does He do this? By reconciling us to the Father and by giving us  the the Holy Spirit, through Whom we have access to the wisdom of God. Why Wisdom? With our faith firmly rooted in Jesus, and walking in obedience to His commands, you have eternal, or everlasting, life and you will have a greater quality of life as you live in His peace and forgiveness. But there is far more available! There is a wisdom that refreshes, feeds, and enhances life for any of God's people. This wisdom is exclusive to those who have 'washed their robes in the blood of Jesus' - those who have surrendered their lives to Him, who have received His forgiveness, who walk in obedience to Him, and who love Him with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength. However, this wisdom is not automatic, it comes at a price and is found by those who search for it; those who are willing to mine, cut, and polish the gems of God's wisdom.  Where is this Wisdom found? God’s wisdom flows from the heart of God. We are only able to access His wisdom as we make the effort to know Him personally and experientially, so that we begin to view daily experiences through His eyes. This wisdom is not the source of our eternal life, Jesus is. But God’s wisdom will lead to a vastly different quality of life than those who do not actively search it out and apply it. God’s wisdom is a completely different way of thinking to that of the wisdom of man. The mark of this wisdom is a revitalizing of spirit, soul, and body - deep, unexplainable peace, a joy that motivates and empowers, deep rest of contentment and gratitude, a life lived in harmony with God's ways, and the warmth of love both received and given. The mark of this wisdom is fullness  of life in every area of your being. ... if you ... Make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding, for if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will discern the fear of the Lord, and discover the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice, and He preserves the way of His godly ones. Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity and every good course. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you, to deliver you from the way of evil..." Prov 2: 1-12 In answer to Veronica's question : Why do I believe Adam did not eat of the Tree of life? : I believe the two trees were mutually exclusive. I believe the fruit of the tree of life would have given Adam and Eve Wisdom, understanding, and discernment, causing them to discern the lie and the trap in satan’s words. Because this wisdom flows from a place of relationship with God, Adam and Eve would have known God’s love at a deeper level, and would not have been prepared to betray His love in the face of the strange words from a stranger. "The fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom; knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Prov 9:10  These are the foundations of wisdom; if Adam and Eve knew the character of God, they would never have fallen for Satan's lies. You don’t get to know someone intimately just by being around them, but by actively and purposefully getting to know their heart - and that is a deliberate process. I believe the fruit of the Tree of Life would have kept Adam and Eve from eating of the Tree of knowledge of good and evil. What About You? I have expressed my opnion - the Bible does not explicitly state my opnion. You need to read the Scripture for what it does say. Whether you connect wisdom with the tree of life or not, you will see that God’s wisdom brings life and refreshing. Jesus brings rest to the weary, peace to the anxious, and joy to those who mourn. He came to give us Life and life abundant, He is the wisdom of God (See 1 Corinthians 1:24). Do you know Him intimately? If you do, He says you will love Him, and if you love Him, you will obey Him. Does the outworking of your life reflect what your mind tells you, and what your mouth proclaims? What is your choice? Life? Or Death? Choose life! And pursue it with every fibre of your being.
As you touch or hover over each picture in the four small squares above, they will be magnified in the main square. This demonstrates what happens in our minds; what we focus on becomes enlarged in our minds, to the exclusion of other things. When we get to see a larger frame, and see how the smaller parts fit together, our understanding often shifts.
